I wonder how many people title their first blog entry as "My First Blog". Or how many people start of wondering about such things. I'm sure there are some large-scale statistics available about these rather mundane patterns. We are merely datapoints in a much larger base.
The blog that I will be meandering through is at http://www.collegewebeditor.com/blog. The blog is maintained by Karine Joly and is described as an "independent, popular, and influential blog about the Web, marketing, and PR in higher education." Sound a bit like PR to me, but still ....
The blog will be useful for my future teaching career for at least two reasons. First, I current teach a class that focuses on the politics of media, and while the discussion of issues on this blog might be pretty specific, they nonetheless will help extend my understanding of how college websites affect the presence of education on the web. Second, although not connected to teaching per se, is that I'm helping my college redesign its website, and so the practical discussions in this blog may be useful.
